USCIS Notice and Response Deadlines
Received a request for evidence or another USCIS notice? Identify the exact response deadline, preserve the notice, and seek help promptly. Different notices and filing methods may have different requirements.
Start with the notice itself
Read every page of the USCIS notice. Identify what USCIS is requesting, where the response must go, and the date stated for responding. Keep the notice, its envelope, and a complete copy of anything you submit.
Do not assume a deadline is extended. If the date is near, contact the office promptly rather than waiting for an online inquiry to be reviewed.
What kind of notice did you receive?
Request for Evidence (RFE)
An RFE asks for documents or information USCIS considers necessary to decide a pending matter. Read the specific request carefully and follow its response instructions.
Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID)
